Match Preview - Crystal Palace vs Manchester United

Manchester United visit Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon in hopes of keeping up the pressure on the sides above them. A barren draw in the Manchester Derby last Sunday left United trailing Arsenal and City by 2points.

Recent Form:

Manchester United come into this game on the back of 3 consecutive draws in all competitions: A 1-1 UCL draw at CSKA Moscow, a goalless Derby draw and then the more frustrating 0-0 draw in midweek against Middlesbrough that saw United kicked out of the Capital One Cup after penalty shootouts. These games have recently sprung up moaning among some United
supporters that the philosophy is taking too long to hit the ground running.

Alan Pardew faces a test to boost the squad's confidence after disappointing performances in recent weeks. BPL defeats to West Ham United and Leicester City were followed by a
5-1 League
Cup loss at the hands of Manchester City in midweek, which has put pressure on the Eagles to bounce back as they look to prove that many were right to tip them for a top-10 finish this season. Palace have lost three and won two of their last five league games.

Team News:
Alan Pardew on injury problems:
"We have some problems as Jason Puncheon has been ill and Yohan Cabaye has a knock but fingers crossed they will be back for the
weekend."
"Connor Wickham and Marouane Chamakh are training and we have our fingers crossed for Pape Souare to be back on Saturday."

Van Gaal on his red army:

"Willo was injured and so was Memphis Depay" he told  MUTV on Friday. "It was a very bad game afterwards because we lost on
penalties and also lost two players. We have to wait and see (how long they are unavailable for) because it was only two days ago."
Meanwhile, Ashley Young is edging closer to full fitness after garnering some game time in midweek. Paddy McNair is still recovering from a serious injury and, of course,
Luke Shaw is still a long-term absentee.
