The Red devils came fourth last season. A position which was the main objective and aim of the club. Many would expect United to fight for all laurels the coming season,   the transfer window would be vital element to achieve this aim.

In the early days of the transfer window, Manchester United signed Memphis Depay; a young lad who scored 28 goals for Psv Eindhoven in all competitions and received the "Dutch Player of the Year" award.

As the transfer window progressed, Manchester United acquired the services of Matteo Darmian. This brought mixed reactions some thinking Coleman or Nathaniel Clyne would have been a better option, but picking up United's player of the month for August many would eat their words.

Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin were acquired in quick succession, every United fan was elated with these signings we acquired, especially Morgan because many expected him to join Arsenal, it was a joyful day for all United fans globally.

United got out of the picture for a while before signing Sergio Romero from sampdoria on a free. A world cup finalist, this drew concerns for united fans hoping he wont be the replacement of David De gea, This was because our Player of the year for two seasons was continuously linked to a move to Real Madrid, which also led to the fruitless Sergio Ramos saga. Fans expected Man United to sign a goal scoring CF after selling Robin van Persie and rejecting the chance to sign Radamel Falcao. When Louis van Gaal was asked about the striker situation he claimed it would be a "surprise striker" none from the players united have been linked to.

This brought tension on everyone trying to figure out who this striker really was. In the course of that United missed out on Otamendi and Pedro. This brought many rants within the fans drawing to the facts that united need a strong centre back and also a winger after losing Angel Di maria termed "the snake" by united fans. Many felt the transfer saga was turning out a disaster for united.

The united season kicked off rather slowly, after a close win against spurs,a draw against Newcastle and a loss against Swansea it was obvious united needed another player to lighten the team up, we scored very few goals and none came from our striker Wayne Rooney.

Although in the Champions League  play offs we were victorious against Club Brugge to qualify for group stages, United still needed a another CF. Hopes of acquiring one was getting lost when Van Gaal said in a press conference that Maroune Fellani would play more as a no 9 this season, fans thought he was the surprise striker Van Gaal talked about.

A day before the Barclays Premier League's Transfer Deadline Day, Manchester United were in talks to sign a 19 yr old striker from As Monaco the fee was 36 million pounds rising up to 58 million pounds if some rather unrealistic targets were reached. On Deadline Day, he carried the United jersey and was given the number '9'.

This transfer was rather overshadowed by the David De Gea saga, unable to join Real Madrid because Real  claimed the documents didn't arrive in time. United fans were elated at this news but there Was pessimism and Optimism about the Anthony Martial deal due to the fact that he is 19 and he wasn't prolific in his last club, and his fee was huge. This concluded the rather lively transfer window.

The game against Liverpool was the perfect stage for Martial, and he got his debut goal from a wonderful solo effort.Everyone knew a star was born at Old Trafford. Retaining De gea has proven vital after some wonderful saves against Southampton. United have a chance to compete for trophies this season ,with a goal scoring Anthony and also an outstanding keeper in De Gea.  The transfer window, in my opinion, has been a successful one.
